Elderly Care

We are currently finalising a new course aimed at equiping staff who work with elderly people with dementia and mental health problems with the necessary skills to promote safe practice in supporting people whose behaviours may challenge.  Based on the same principles as our other challenging behaviour training it is adapted to take into account the specific needs of the elderly and examines age-related causes of difficult or challenging behaviour.  It is aimed at ensuring the health, safety and well-being of service users and staff while promoting ethical approaches and the principle that whatever the circumstances, people should be supported in the least restrictive and least controlling manner.

The full course including theory, designing strategies and physical intervention skills will be available from April 2009.
